Overview
This role supports commercial litigation matters by assisting senior lawyers with disputes involving contracts, shareholders, and general commercial issues. The position involves managing core litigation tasks such as drafting, discovery, evidence review, and preparing materials for counsel and mediation. Strong research and drafting skills are essential, along with at least 3 years of experience. A working understanding of court procedure is required to support effective matter progression across courts in New South Wales (NSW).
Responsibilities
- Support senior lawyers on commercial litigation matters, including breach of contract, shareholder disputes, and general commercial disputes across NSW.
- Manage litigation tasks by preparing court documents, coordinating discovery, reviewing evidence, briefing counsel, and assisting with mediation and settlement.
- Conduct legal research on procedural and substantive issues to strengthen case preparation.
- Develop litigation strategies with a practical and commercially focused approach aligned to client objectives.
- Work across NSW courts including the Local, District, and Supreme Courts of New South Wales.
- Apply NSW civil procedure with a strong understanding of court processes to ensure efficient matter progression.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years' commercial litigation experience, including exposure to shareholder disputes and breach of contract matters.
- Demonstrated drafting capability through high-quality written work such as pleadings, correspondence, and research memoranda.
- Strong legal research skills with the ability to analyze case law, legislation, and procedural rules.
- Foundational knowledge of court procedure and litigation processes.
