Commercial Title Examiner

Overview

This role supports the organization’s Agency Division by performing title examination work for primarily commercial or industrial property, with orders that may range from simple parcels to complex commercial properties.

Responsibilities

• Perform title examination and review the chain of title for a wide range of title orders, primarily commercial/residential
• Abstract and analyze recorded documents, including leases, subleases, liens, judgments, easements, vital statistics, and plot and map books
• Determine ownership and legal restrictions to verify the legal description of property and assess record completeness (including matters that may cross county lines)
• Resolve issues related to missing, incomplete, inaccurate, or contradictory information in title documentation
• Prepare initial title commitment documentation based on procedural guidelines
• Prepare and review reports for accuracy
• Provide underwriting interpretation within established guidelines, as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 3+ years directly related experience
• Detail/quality orientation
• Analytical review skills
• Research skills
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Communication skills (verbal and written)
• Customer service orientation
• Proficiency with standard MS skills
• Proficiency with company operating systems
• State license(s) if required
• Knowledge of legal terms helpful

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay range: $26.88 - $35.82 Hourly (Remote)
• This hiring range is a reasonable estimate of the base pay range for this position at the time of posting.
• Pay is based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, business requirements, and geographic location.
