Overview
A remote opportunity is available for a Staff Attorney to join a Complex Litigation Team handling cases throughout the New York City area. This role is suited for an attorney with litigation experience in Labor Law, premises liability, and motor-vehicle accident cases. The position involves working collaboratively with experienced litigators to achieve favorable outcomes in pending litigation.
Responsibilities
- Prepare pleadings, written discovery, motions, and briefs supporting defense strategies under supervision.
- Conduct legal research and develop defense strategies.
- Conduct depositions and attend court appearances.
- Analyze substantive and procedural legal and factual issues.
- Provide timely legal advice and communication to clients and claims customers in a technology-driven environment.
- Communicate with courts, witnesses, opposing counsel, and co-counsel following established procedures.
- Attend continuing legal education seminars to maintain professional expertise.
Requirements
- Minimum of three (3) years of litigation experience.
- Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice law in New York State and a member in good standing of the New York State Bar.
- Knowledge of New York Supreme and Civil courts.
- Federal admission to SDNY and EDNY is a plus.
- Strong legal research and writing skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize duties and manage time effectively.
- Strong communication, computer, and technological skills with the ability to quickly learn new software.
Technical Requirements for Remote Work
- High-speed broadband internet service is required; DSL, wireless, Wi-Fi, hotspots, fiber without a modem, and satellite are not recommended or supported.
- Internet provider supplied modem/router/gateway must be hardwired to the issued computer via ethernet cable.
- Minimum upload/download speeds of 5Mbps/30Mbps are required.
Compensation & Benefits
- Annual base pay range: $118,800 - $178,200.
- Actual base pay may vary based on performance, proficiency, and competencies.
- Compensation package may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and recognition programs.
Location
Remote position with cases primarily in the New York City area.
