Overview

This role involves serving as General Counsel to support the implementation of a Medicare health insurance agency's Compliance program. The position requires advanced knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations applicable to health insurance agencies, including HIPAA and TCPA.

Responsibilities

  • Work independently to assist the Compliance Department with the Compliance program implementation.
  • Research and provide legal advice on applicable laws and regulations impacting health insurance agencies.
  • Conduct contract reviews and draft legal documents as assigned.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures consistent with legal requirements.
  • Escalate compliance and privacy concerns to senior legal leadership.
  • Provide oversight in assessing product, compliance, privacy, or operational risks and contribute to risk management strategies.
  • Assist in managing litigation as needed.
  • Contribute to the annual Compliance Work Plan.
  • Maintain expert-level knowledge of compliance trends and applicable laws to ensure adherence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Position Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to at least one state bar in good standing.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related legal experience.
  • Healthcare compliance and privacy certifications are a plus.
