$110,000 - $130,000 annually | Remote (California-based)
This full-time, exempt Corporate Legal role involves providing sophisticated in-house legal support to the Association, its subsidiaries, and affiliates. The position reports to the Assistant General Counsel and supports contract negotiation and corporate legal guidance across a range of business, governance, compliance, nonprofit, and intellectual property matters.
Responsibilities
- Negotiate, draft, review, and advise on a variety of contracts, including:
- Speaker agreements
- Vendor contracts
- Licenses
- Event agreements
- Partnership agreements
- Other business contracts
- Provide legal advice and counsel on governance, compliance, nonprofit matters, intellectual property, corporate transactions, and general business issues for the Association and related entities
- Monitor legal developments affecting trade associations and nonprofit organizations
- Conduct legal research and prepare legal memoranda and other written guidance
- Assist with the development of educational and informational legal resources as needed
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization on legal matters and initiatives
Work Arrangement & Travel
- Remote position; applicants must reside in California.
- Travel may include:
- Attendance at business meetings within California approximately three times per year
- Minimal additional travel as business needs require
Required Qualifications
Education
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school
- Member of California State Bar
Experience
- 5+ years of experience in a law firm or comparable in-house legal environment
- Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts
- Experience with governance, compliance, nonprofit issues or trade associations, intellectual property, and/or corporate transactions (e.g., investments and mergers and acquisitions)
