Overview
A legal team is seeking a creative Corporate Counsel with employment law experience to join in a remote or hybrid capacity. This role involves planning, developing, and executing strategic initiatives within the Legal Department, providing legal advice on a wide range of employment-related matters, and translating complex legal concepts into clear, actionable guidance. The position requires ownership of initiatives from the start and frequent interaction with key stakeholders. Candidates must demonstrate Executive Presence and a collaborative, proactive attitude.

Note: This position is open only to candidates currently residing in Florida due to role responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Provide practical, day-to-day legal guidance on complex HR and employment law topics, including leave laws, wage and hour issues, discrimination/harassment, and new HR-related Executive Orders.
- Advise on risk management and compliance matters such as tax issues and employee benefits.
- Collaborate closely with General Counsel, Senior Corporate Counsel, HR, Client Services, and other internal teams to align legal strategy with business goals.
- Partner with Senior Corporate Counsel to develop training and resources on current regulatory issues.
- Build relationships with key stakeholders to enhance business understanding and facilitate success.
- Demonstrate Executive Presence in presentations and communications.
- Assist in managing disputes and litigation alongside Senior Corporate Counsel.
- Manage third-party subpoenas and lead litigation hold processes in accordance with company policy.
- Support management of client garnishments under Senior Corporate Counsel oversight.
- Oversee reporting of Client Employment Practices Liability Insurance (EPLI) claims and coordinate with Claims Manager on active litigation.
- Review and analyze Certificates of Insurance related to EPLI and Workers’ Compensation.
- Assist with review and drafting of client service agreements and vendor contracts.
- Monitor changes in employment law, tax compliance, and employee benefits compliance.
- Prepare monthly compliance newsletters for clients with assistance from Senior Corporate Counsel.
- Perform administrative duties and other tasks as assigned.
- Travel up to 20% as required; no relocation assistance provided.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field; MBA preferred.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.
- 1–3 years of professional experience in employment law, litigation, compliance, and risk management.
- Strong knowledge of Human Resources, Payroll, Benefits, and Compliance, preferably within a Professional Employer Organization (PEO) or Human Capital Management (HCM) environment.
- Licensed and in good standing with the Florida Bar, or eligible as Florida Authorized House Counsel, with residency in Florida.
- Experience supporting team member development and driving measurable performance outcomes.

Work Environment
This primarily office-based role can be performed in a corporate office or remote home office setting. Responsibilities include computer work, telephone communication, virtual or in-person meetings, company events, and training sessions.
