Overview
This role involves providing expert legal analysis for AI training work focused on nuanced legal content. The work applies advanced corporate-law judgment to help train AI systems that must understand, reason about, and draft or interpret information involving legal documents.
Responsibilities
- Analyze complex corporate documents, contracts, and deal structures related to mergers and acquisitions, private equity, and capital markets.
- Review commercial litigation materials to identify important legal principles and procedural details.
- Provide structured feedback suitable for legal AI training datasets, including issue spotting, legal reasoning, drafting approaches, and interpretation of legal instruments.
- Annotate, categorize, and explain key corporate-law issues for legal AI training datasets.
- Apply project rubrics and quality standards consistently.
- Communicate complex legal judgments clearly in written form.
- Collaborate asynchronously with project managers and internal reviewers while maintaining high standards for accuracy, clarity, and alignment with US legal practice.
Requirements
- Active license to practice law in the United States.
- Current or recent experience within the last three years at a top-tier BigLaw firm.
- Substantial expertise in one or more of the following:
- Corporate law
- Mergers and acquisitions
- Private equity
- Capital markets
- Commercial litigation
- Other high-value transactional matters
- Strong ability to:
- Analyze mergers and acquisitions, private equity, and capital-markets documents
- Identify legal principles and procedural details in commercial litigation materials
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex agreements and legal instruments
- Explain legal reasoning, issue spotting, and drafting decisions clearly
- Provide exceptional attention to detail and strong written communication
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with legal data annotation or rubric-based document review (useful but not required).
- Previous AI experience is not required.
Compensation & Benefits
- Engagement type: Part-time contractor
- Time requirement: 20+ hours per week
- Pay range: $140 to $400 USD per hour
