Overview

A global legal team is seeking an experienced attorney specializing in trademark, copyright, and brand protection to join their intellectual property practice. This role involves managing a broad range of IP issues including trademark prosecution, enforcement, domain name management, and copyright matters for multiple brands within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Handle escalated notice and takedown cases related to user-generated content on the platform; proactively manage risk, identify patterns, improve workflows, and support the team through quality control, training, and process development.
  • Manage ongoing prosecution and maintenance of global trademark, domain name, and copyright portfolios for the organization and its acquired brands.
  • Oversee trademark enforcement and intellectual property dispute matters, including direct correspondence with third parties misusing the company’s marks and negotiating dispute resolutions.
  • Advise internal partners on legal risks and viability of proposed trademarks and domain names, including conducting trademark searches and providing guidance on use and registration.
  • Collaborate with a fast-paced, high-performing team on IP strategy and program management.
  • Proactively manage and audit trademark and domain name portfolios, aligning them with business objectives in partnership with internal stakeholders.
  • Consult with marketing, product, and commercial counsel on trademark, copyright, and right of publicity issues.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree and a minimum of five (5) years of legal practice experience, including substantial experience in trademark, copyright, domain name, and brand protection counseling.
  • Relevant in-house experience with leading global technology companies is a plus.
  • Strong working knowledge of the platform, evolving product lines, and competitive landscape.
  • Experience with intellectual property platform liability issues, the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), and the Digital Services Act (DSA), in litigation or advisory contexts.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute trademark, copyright, domain name, and brand protection strategies and workflows, and identify opportunities for process improvements.
  • Experience advising on trademark clearance, prosecution, and enforcement for a global company.
  • Excellent communication and listening skills; highly collaborative team player.
  • Ability to deliver timely, accurate, thorough, and concise legal analysis.
  • Capacity to develop realistic assessments of legal risks and provide clear, pragmatic, business-oriented advice.
  • Proven ability to perform beyond expectations in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, including multitasking and prioritization.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, intellectual curiosity, and willingness to grow.
  • Organized and detail-oriented.
  • Member in good standing of a state bar.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary range: $196,000 to $230,000 USD.
  • Eligibility for bonus, equity, benefits, and employee travel credits.
  • Actual base pay depends on factors such as training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands.

Location

  • This position is US - Remote Eligible.
  • Occasional work at an office or attendance at offsites may be required as agreed with management.
