Overview

This full-time, remote Debt Resolution Liaison Attorney position primarily involves assisting with debt resolution for clients and serving as backup to lead attorneys on the Network Liaison Team. The role does not require court appearances.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal assistance to the debt resolution network, including communication with creditors and creditor law firms.
  • Manage escalation requests from the debt resolution network.
  • Oversee settlement and account management activities performed by paralegals, legal administrators, and negotiators.
  • Prepare, review, and approve settlement agreements and other legal documents.
  • Supervise negotiator and paralegal functions, providing coaching on legal and ethical compliance, policies, and procedures.
  • Support liaison network attorneys with case management and workload, including coverage during absences.
  • Facilitate communication among opposing counsel, creditors, negotiators, attorneys, and paralegals.
  • Address concerns from debt resolution teams to ensure client and program success.
  • Manage and facilitate legal training for new hires and assist in designing legal training modules.
  • Collaborate regularly with management, administrative personnel, negotiating teams, and servicing teams.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in at least one state.
  • Strong knowledge of legal industry rules and regulations related to collections, debt defense, and debt settlement, including FDCPA and FCRA.
  • Solid understanding of attorney ethics and standards of practice.

Skills and Abilities

  • Experience in consumer debt defense and/or collections preferred but not required.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-legal team members.
  • Excellent critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Employee management and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Salesforce, and/or other CRM or case management software.
  • General tech-savviness.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Debt resolution experience.
  • Licensure in multiple states preferred but not required.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • This is a remote position requiring a home office or dedicated workspace.
  • Routine use of standard office equipment such as a computer and online phone system.
  • Access to high-speed internet is required.
  • Ability to sit and operate a computer for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to communicate effectively via speaking, hearing, and seeing.
  • Manual dexterity to use a computer keyboard and other office equipment.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand firm materials and communications.
