Overview

A leading cryptocurrency exchange is seeking a Lead US Product Counsel to join their Global Product Legal Team. This role involves providing strategic legal advice on US product offerings in the crypto and centralized exchange space. The position requires navigating complex and evolving regulatory frameworks while partnering closely with US Product and Business teams.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a strategic legal partner to the Product team and other stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle, from concept to launch.
  • Identify legal and regulatory risks associated with new products and services, advising on product structure and design to mitigate risks.
  • Develop, draft, and manage disclosures for new products and services, including terms and conditions, customer agreements, event and promotion terms, disclaimers, and risk notices.
  • Collaborate with Risk, Compliance, Finance, and other teams to monitor evolving legal and regulatory developments and conduct product impact assessments.
  • Coordinate cross-functional input into the product launch process by working closely with Legal and Compliance teams to deliver business-focused solutions.

Requirements

  • Law degree from a top law school.
  • Admission to practice law in any US state.
  • 10+ years of experience in product counseling and financial services regulatory and legal matters, ideally with experience both in-house and at a top law firm.
  • Experience engaging with US regulators such as the CFTC, SEC, and other federal and state regulators.
  • Strong judgment regarding business practices, stakeholder relationship management, and reputational risk.
  • Business-driven and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage tight deadlines.
  • Business proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, with excellent drafting and communication skills.
  • Ability to approach challenges with a sense of humor.

Preferred Qualifications

  • In-house experience at fintech and/or digital asset/crypto companies.
  • Experience in Web3 technologies.

  • Salary range: $200,000 to $300,000, depending on knowledge, skills, experience, and market location.
