Overview

A legal technology organization is seeking a Director of AI & Talent Innovation to lead external AI initiatives and internal AI transformation efforts within their Marketplace operations. This role focuses on AI-enabled talent, training, certification, and best practices, specifically within legal operations or law practice. It is a strategic operator position responsible for converting AI opportunities into measurable business impact.

This position reports directly to the CEO and collaborates closely with leaders across Marketplace, Sales, Marketing, Product, and Operations teams.

Responsibilities

Lead the AI-Enabled Talent Strategy.
Design and launch an AI-Enabled Counsel program, including training, certification, and governance standards.
Identify, evaluate, and structure partnerships with leading legal AI providers.
Operationalize AI solutions within the Marketplace to improve client outcomes, talent performance, and service delivery innovation.
Develop practical AI playbooks for key legal practice areas.
Establish responsible AI usage guidelines for independent legal talent.
Measure and scale performance improvements in speed, quality, and margin.
Support enterprise-level discussions where AI-enabled capabilities serve as differentiators.
Advise leadership on long-term AI strategy and competitive positioning.

Requirements

Minimum of 6 years of experience in legal, legal operations, legal innovation, legal technology, or professional services transformation.
Strong familiarity with in-house legal teams and/or flexible legal talent models.
Experience in building training, certification, or capability development programs.
Hands-on familiarity with AI tools and workflow automation.
Practical understanding of AI governance and risk mitigation.
Proven track record of leading cross-functional initiatives and driving measurable outcomes.
Strategic, execution-focused, commercially minded, and systems-oriented.
Energized by working at the intersection of legal services and AI.
