Overview
A leading organization in the Business Services sector is seeking a Director and Assistant General Counsel specializing in Environmental Risk Management (ERM) and Environmental Compliance. This role involves leading initiatives that integrate scalable technology, AI-enabled capabilities, and business transformation. The position requires collaboration across engineering, product, and business teams to translate complex regulatory and compliance requirements into practical technology solutions. The role offers significant influence over architecture, execution quality, and long-term innovation within a Business Services environment.
Location: Remote (U.S. based candidates only; no visa sponsorship available)
Compensation: $250,253 – $305,864 annually
Responsibilities
- Manage complex global environmental compliance issues
- Provide legal advice on regulatory submissions, permitting, and environmental regulatory changes
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on risk mitigation strategies
- Coordinate with litigation teams on environmental matters
- Partner with business units to address compliance and risk management
- Enhance the effectiveness of the Environmental Risk Management (ERM) and Legal Affairs teams
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
- Minimum of 10 years of environmental law experience in diverse settings
- Experience serving as in-house counsel on environmental matters
- Background in regulatory advocacy and rulemaking processes
- Experience engaging with federal and state environmental regulators
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to manage or coordinate cross-functional teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Admission to practice law in relevant jurisdictions
- Knowledge of environmental regulations such as the Clean Water Act and Clean Air Act
- Familiarity with administrative law procedures
- Experience with compliance management systems
- Understanding of environmental sustainability practices
