Overview
A nationally respected management-side labor and employment law platform is seeking an experienced Employment Litigation attorney with 7+ years of experience to join as a Remote Senior Attorney/Counsel. This role supports a dedicated Professional Employer Organization (PEO) client and its insurer in Northern California.
This is a non-partner-track position designed for a senior attorney who prefers managing day-to-day litigation and delivering high-quality legal services without business development responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Manage a high-volume employment litigation docket from inception through resolution
- Serve as primary contact for the PEO client, its customers, and the insurance carrier
- Handle administrative charges, attorney demand letters, single-plaintiff employment litigation, with potential exposure to class actions and PAGA matters
- Conduct court appearances, depositions, mediations, hearings, and trials, including some travel within Northern California
- Develop case strategies and manage matters independently
- Draft and review pleadings, motions, and discovery documents
- Take and defend depositions
- Represent clients in hearings, conferences, mediations, and trials
- Supervise and mentor attorneys and legal staff
- Collaborate with partners, associates, paralegals, and support teams
- Maintain proactive communication with the PEO client and insurance carrier
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school
- Minimum 7 years of employment law and litigation experience
- Active California bar admission
- Experience with regular court appearances and in-person proceedings
- Ability to independently manage a high-volume docket
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior law firm experience
- Experience working with Professional Employer Organizations (PEOs)
- Familiarity with Employment Practices Liability Insurance (EPLI) matters and insurer relationships
- Comfort working remotely while supporting in-person litigation needs
