Overview
This role involves working at the intersection of complex litigation and artificial intelligence to improve legal workflows. The organization is developing AI technology that processes large volumes of legal documents and discovery materials to produce precise, audit-ready outputs. With a product already in production and a growing client base, the team is scaling its efforts to bridge the gap between advanced AI capabilities and traditional legal practice.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the founding legal engineer, establishing trust and credibility with clients by explaining how the AI aligns with ethical and procedural legal standards.
- Collaborate with Account Executives to support deal closures by engaging with Managing Partners and General Counsels as a knowledgeable peer.
- Translate complex legal processes into logical, step-by-step workflows that guide the AI's reasoning to meet senior associate expectations.
- Lead evaluation efforts to validate AI outputs and maintain high-quality standards.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree with practical experience in complex litigation and civil procedure.
- Experience with document review and understanding of legal workflows and the importance of accuracy.
- Strong systems thinking skills with the ability to map complex legal decision trees and workflows.
- Leadership experience managing or directing paralegals, nurse consultants, or junior associates.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and credibly to senior legal professionals without jargon.
- Tech-savvy with a passion for efficiency and automation; comfortable as a power user of complex software tools.
- Proactive and self-driven, capable of owning relationships and strategy without waiting for direction.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing document review teams or nurse consultants.
- Interest in artificial intelligence and enthusiasm for integrating AI into legal workflows.
