Overview

A health technology organization is seeking a General Counsel to independently oversee all legal matters, including risk management, contract negotiations, and intellectual property. This role involves shaping the legal strategy to align with business objectives and supporting growth in the digital healthcare sector. The position requires a proactive, business-minded attorney capable of navigating complex legal frameworks in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement legal strategies that support business goals, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, data privacy laws, and industry standards.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts such as partnerships, vendor agreements, NDAs, and other commercial transactions.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate legal risks to protect company assets and reputation, providing clear and actionable recommendations.
  • Collaborate with outside regulatory counsel on healthcare regulatory matters, HIPAA compliance, data privacy, and security issues to maintain compliance and innovation in digital healthcare offerings.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor on corporate governance, supporting board communications and ensuring alignment with best practices.
  • Oversee intellectual property matters, including trademark management, to protect innovations.
  • Act as a key member of the leadership team, working with cross-functional partners to provide sound legal guidance aligned with the organization's mission and growth strategies.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and current bar membership.
  • Minimum of 8 years of legal experience, preferably with a strong background in healthcare, technology, or related industries.
  • Proven expertise in contract negotiation, corporate law, and risk management.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA, data privacy regulations, and healthcare-related laws.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and lead the legal function as a strategic advisor.
