Overview

This role provides legal guidance and subject matter expertise for global sales and marketing activities across various markets. It also supports other business units with technology, innovation, procurement, and marketing-related legal issues. The position is responsible for proactively managing risks associated with marketing campaigns and activities through training, coaching, and the development and implementation of governance processes and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical legal expertise in assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Monitor legal developments and trends, recommending appropriate responses to management.
  • Work on international projects and matters.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, internal policies, and standards.
  • Build and maintain relationships with leaders, outside counsel, regulators, agencies, and other third parties.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, racing, and other teams to integrate legal considerations into business decisions and strategies.
  • Advise on legal aspects of marketing, race, and blimp operations globally, including compliance with advertising, racing, and competition laws.
  • Draft and negotiate marketing-related contracts such as promotional agreements and sponsorships.
  • Oversee contracts and negotiations for marketing, race, and blimp operations globally, coordinating local and expert support as needed.
  • Review North America and US-based global marketing agreements, including marketing procurement and digital contracts.
  • Manage legal risks associated with in-scope activities, including potential litigation and reputational damage.
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives and projects within the legal department.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for racing standards and technical regulations.
  • Manage budgets related to cases, matters, projects, tenders, and outside counsel.
  • Develop and maintain global marketing policies, templates, and playbooks to enhance cross-functional efficiencies.
  • Provide training and share lessons learned to minimize future legal risks.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience at a law firm and/or in-house corporate legal department.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited U.S. law school.
  • Membership in the Bar (state-specific membership not required).
  • Highest level of ethical conduct and integrity.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build trust across functions and with senior management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of developing business-oriented and cost-efficient solutions.
  • Commitment to delivering exceptional client service in a fast-paced corporate environment.
  • Demonstrated business judgment, consensus-building skills, and practical client counseling experience.
