Overview
A full-service law firm with multiple U.S. locations is seeking an experienced Bankruptcy/Litigation Paralegal to support attorneys and trustees in commercial bankruptcy matters. This role can be based in a virtual office or at any firm location.
Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing Chapter 11 commercial bankruptcy cases, including first-day hearing preparation, pleadings, noticing, and presentation materials.
- Develop proficiency in database management, electronic research, and electronic file maintenance.
- Draft, process, and file bankruptcy-related documents.
- Obtain credit reports and assist with drafting Proofs of Claim.
- Regularly review case documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare hearing notebooks with relevant materials such as motions, notices, orders, and exhibits.
- Manage mailings related to bankruptcy cases as needed.
- Participate in internal continuing legal education (CLE) sessions.
- Anticipate attorney needs and provide proactive support.
- Mentor junior paralegals or paralegal assistants as required.
- Stay updated on developments in the paralegal profession.
- Utilize and implement legal AI tools and adapt to new technologies.
- Meet an annual billable hour target of 1,500 hours.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience working directly with commercial bankruptcy attorneys in a law firm or similar professional environment.
- Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal Certificate preferred.
- Significant substantive legal experience may be considered in lieu of formal education at the discretion of management.

Compensation and Benefits
Compensation is commensurate with skills, experience, location, and other legal factors. Expected salary ranges by location are:
- California: $86,000 - $139,000
- Colorado: $75,000 - $119,000
- Illinois: $64,000 - $125,000
- Maryland: $73,000 - $107,000
- Massachusetts: $85,000 - $130,000
- Minnesota: $75,000 - $111,000
- Jersey City, NJ: $78,000 - $114,000
- New York: $66,000 - $125,000
- Washington State: $88,000 - $134,000
- Washington, DC: $94,000 - $138,000
Bonus opportunities are discretionary and based on individual and firm performance.
