Overview

A legal position is available for an attorney to handle insurance defense cases throughout Florida. This role involves working remotely with occasional in-person appearances and trials as required. Responsibilities

  • Manage all phases of insurance defense cases from intake to resolution, primarily handling cases of low complexity and exposure.
  • Prepare pleadings, motions, discovery, and briefs.
  • Attend hearings, conferences, interviews, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
  • Communicate proactively with leadership regarding case handling opportunities and challenges.
  • Consult with the Claims Department on legal aspects of files.
  • Perform other tasks to ensure efficient case management.
  • May serve as second chair in trials and handle trials involving minimal complexity and exposure.
  • Provide support to senior attorneys on more complex cases and handle developmental assignments of moderate complexity.

Physical Requirements

  • Work is performed indoors in a climate-controlled office or virtually from an approved alternative location.
  • May require travel between offices, alternative work locations, and field sites.
  • Frequent sitting or standing for prolonged periods.
  • Occasional movement including navigating stairs, ramps, and uneven surfaces.
  • Occasionally lift or carry objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and manipulating equipment.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, twisting, and reaching.
  • Requires clear vision and adequate hearing, with or without correction.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Licensed to practice law in Florida at the time of hire.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience in civil litigation and/or personal/bodily injury cases preferred.

  • Good judgment and decision-making skills.

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed.
