Overview
A full-service litigation and business law firm with multiple U.S. locations is seeking a Knowledge Management & Innovation (KMI) Attorney. This role supports the Corporate, M&A, and Securities practice group by driving business transformation and operational efficiency through innovative legal technology solutions and process improvements. The position may be remote or based at any firm location.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary liaison between the Corporate, M&A, and Securities practice group, Knowledge Management (KM) team, and firm leadership.
- Identify opportunities for technology-driven improvements and process optimization within the practice group.
- Collaborate with KM, IT, and practice teams to evaluate and implement innovative solutions, including AI tools.
- Identify, assess, and pilot new and existing legal technology tools tailored to practice group needs.
- Prototype and demonstrate technology solutions such as AI and document automation platforms.
- Collect and communicate user feedback to enhance KM solutions and promote continuous improvement.
- Champion technology adoption and organizational change to ensure successful project delivery.
- Support pilots, beta tests, and business development initiatives related to KM and innovation.
- Develop and deliver training, workshops, and support materials to increase user engagement and adoption.
- Plan, execute, and monitor KM and innovation projects aligned with firm goals and return on investment.
- Document and report project progress in collaboration with the KM Project Management Team.
- Monitor legal technology trends and participate in relevant industry events.
- Develop and refine document automation prototypes, ensuring integration with databases and user-friendly interfaces.
- Implement customization features and feedback mechanisms for continuous tool improvement.
- Conduct live demonstrations and pilot programs to showcase the value of KM-developed tools and legal technology collaborations.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and a 4-year degree in a relevant field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a practicing attorney or in knowledge management/innovation within professional services.
- Proven experience with legal technology, project management, and business planning.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively on cross-functional teams and drive organizational change.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating with diverse teams and explaining complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive and innovative mindset.
Compensation and Benefits
Compensation is commensurate with skills, experience, location, and other factors permitted by law. Expected salary ranges by location are:
- California: $151,000 - $308,000
- Colorado: $139,000 - $248,000
- Illinois: $136,000 - $265,000
- Maryland: $146,000 - $222,000
- Massachusetts: $151,000 - $289,000
- Minnesota: $151,000 - $250,000
- Jersey City, NJ: $164,000 - $297,000
- New York: $141,000 - $304,000
- Vermont: $149,000 - $286,000
- Washington: $146,000 - $278,000
- Washington, D.C.: $195,000 - $286,000
These salaries do not include discretionary bonuses, which are non-guaranteed and based on individual and firm performance.
