Overview

A full-service litigation and business law firm with multiple U.S. locations is seeking a Knowledge Management & Innovation (KMI) Attorney. This role supports the Private Wealth and Tax Practice Service Center (PSC) by driving business transformation and operational efficiency through innovative legal technology solutions and process improvements. The position may be remote or based at any firm location.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary liaison between the PSC, Knowledge Management (KM) team, and firm leadership.
  • Lead identification and implementation of technology-driven improvements and process optimizations within the PSC.
  • Collaborate with KM, IT, and practice teams to evaluate and deploy innovative solutions, including AI tools.
  • Identify, assess, and pilot new and existing legal technology tools tailored to PSC needs.
  • Develop prototypes and demonstrate technology solutions such as AI and document automation platforms.
  • Collect and communicate user feedback to enhance KM solutions and promote continuous improvement.
  • Champion technology adoption and organizational change to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Support pilots, beta tests, and business development initiatives related to KM and innovation.
  • Develop and deliver training, workshops, and support materials to increase user engagement and adoption.
  • Plan, execute, and monitor KM and innovation projects aligned with firm goals and return on investment.
  • Document and report project progress in collaboration with the KM Project Management Team.
  • Stay informed on legal technology trends and participate in relevant industry events.
  • Develop and refine document automation prototypes with integration to databases and user-friendly interfaces.
  • Implement customization and feedback mechanisms for continuous tool improvement.
  • Conduct live demonstrations and share success stories to promote adoption of KM-developed tools and AI technologies.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and a 4-year undergraduate degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a practicing attorney or in knowledge management/innovation within professional services.
  • Proven experience with legal technology, project management, and business planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively on cross-functional teams and lead organizational change.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of explaining complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive and innovative approach.

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation is commensurate with skills, experience, location, and other legal factors. Expected salary ranges by location are:

  • California: $151,000 - $308,000
  • Colorado: $139,000 - $248,000
  • Illinois: $136,000 - $265,000
  • Maryland: $146,000 - $222,000
  • Massachusetts: $151,000 - $289,000
  • Minnesota: $151,000 - $250,000
  • Jersey City, NJ: $164,000 - $297,000
  • New York: $141,000 - $304,000
  • Vermont: $149,000 - $286,000
  • Washington State: $146,000 - $278,000
  • Washington, D.C.: $195,000 - $286,000

Bonus opportunities are discretionary and based on individual and firm performance.
