Overview

A legal services organization is seeking a Paralegal specializing in Labor & Employment to support attorneys in managing, coordinating, and administering all aspects of the practice area. This position offers a remote work arrangement for candidates located in the Los Angeles, CA region.

Responsibilities

  • Refine and improve knowledge of various legal procedures.
  • Assist with trial preparation.
  • Utilize legal research databases such as Westlaw and Lexis.
  • Understand and apply state and federal procedural rules.
  • Coordinate service of process locally and nationwide.
  • Draft removal documents for cases transitioning from State to Federal court.
  • Manage Federal and State Court Electronic Filing across multiple states.
  • Review and edit legal documents, including spelling, grammar, fact-checking, Shepardizing legal authority, blue-booking citations, redactions, privilege logs, and formatting.
  • Conduct research projects using public records and publicly available websites.
  • Manage discovery productions and coordinate with eDiscovery Services to organize discovery workspaces.
  • Communicate with clients and assist in maintaining client relations.
  • Draft routine motions, discovery requests, and responses.
  • Track and complete projects within deadlines.
  • Provide status updates throughout projects.
  • Coordinate projects under attorney supervision and consult with senior paralegals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 4-6 years of paralegal experience.
  • Paralegal Certificate preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required; relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with personnel at all levels, both internal and external.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in aspects of the Labor & Employment practice area.
  • Intermediate knowledge of practice support systems and group-specific software.
  • Willingness to learn and collaborate with senior paralegals.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with electronic databases such as Relativity and NetDocuments, including maintaining extranet databases and case files.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range for Los Angeles, CA: $70,000 to $112,000 annually, depending on location and qualifications.
  • Standard benefits package included.
  • Potential eligibility for additional contingent compensation based on factors such as work performance, geographic location, experience, education, and qualifications.
