Overview

A growing land-use and development practice is seeking a Land-Use Attorney with at least 5 years of experience. This role involves advising public entities, private landowners, and developers on land-use approvals, planning and zoning matters, and regulatory compliance. While experience with environmental laws such as CEQA and NEPA is valued, the primary focus is on land-use issues.

Responsibilities

  • Advise clients on land-use, planning, zoning, and entitlement matters.
  • Navigate state and local land-use regulations related to real estate and development projects.
  • Prepare, review, and negotiate applications, agreements, reports, and other documents required for project approvals.
  • Represent clients before local agencies, planning commissions, and other administrative bodies.
  • Assist with CEQA, NEPA, and other environmental review issues as they relate to land-use and development projects.
  • Collaborate with attorneys across public law, real estate, and environmental practices.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in California.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in land use, planning, zoning, or real estate development law.
  • Experience advising public agencies, developers, or landowners on entitlement and approval processes.
  • Familiarity with CEQA, NEPA, or environmental regulations in a land-use context is a plus.
  • Strong drafting, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters and work effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $170,000 to $200,000, depending on experience.
  • Primarily remote work environment with flexibility for California-based attorneys.
  • Opportunity to work on sophisticated matters with long-term client relationships.

Location

  • Remote, with preference for candidates licensed and based in California.
