Overview

A legal services organization is seeking experienced Land Use & Zoning Lawyers to support government entities and municipalities in Ontario. This role involves advising on land development and zoning matters for large projects, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice to government entities and municipalities on land development and zoning issues.
  • Conduct due diligence reviews including title searches, environmental assessments, and regulatory compliance checks related to land transactions.
  • Assist clients in obtaining permits, approvals, and variances by preparing and submitting applications to municipal authorities, planning boards, and regulatory agencies.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary legal team comprising real estate lawyers, environmental specialists, and regulatory experts to deliver comprehensive legal solutions.

Requirements

  • Licensed lawyer in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience specializing in land use law.
  • Deep understanding of provincial land use and zoning regulations.
  • Proven experience providing legal counsel in land use planning, development law, expropriations, development charges and agreements, and advocacy before administrative tribunals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of explaining complex legal concepts clearly.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Estimated total compensation for full-time attorney roles ranges from $114,000 to $250,000 per year.
  • Compensation is determined based on experience, skills, certifications, location, and business needs.
