Overview
This position works under the direction of a Project Manager, Law Clerk II, Supervisory Paralegal, or a Project Supervisor. Responsibilities include document review, legal research support, and assistance with draft legal documents and litigation tasks.
Responsibilities
- Perform document review on assigned cases using Relativity.
- Review documents for relevance, privilege, and discovery support.
- Conduct simple to moderately complex legal research for attorney teams.
- Assist in preparing draft legal documents (e.g., motions, briefs, memoranda of law), including reviewing documents for relevance and privilege.
- Assist attorneys with all phases of litigation.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to obtain and maintain MRPT facility credentials/authorization. US Citizenship is required for MRPT facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
- Supports an SCA (Service Contract Act) contract; hourly wage is determined by the Department of Labor.
- Professional proficiency/fluency in English and at least one other language (Spanish preferred).
- Law degree, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school having completed at least one (1) year of study; or an equivalent level of six (6) years of legal training or experience may be substituted; or an equivalent level of education may be substituted.
- Prior experience with large document review projects using Relativity.
- Ability to navigate review windows, conduct searches, and tag documents in Relativity.
- Sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
- Hands-on familiarity with computer applications, including word processing, databases (document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, and imaging.
- Hands-on familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources.
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly, overtime-eligible position under the Service Contract Act (SCA).
- Compensation listed as: $38.77.
- Health & Welfare payment: Employees will earn H&W dollars per eligible hour (including vacation and holiday up to 40 hours/week). H&W monies are used to offset the employer’s cost of benefits the employee elects into and/or utilizes. Any remaining health and welfare monies after all applicable deductions would be cashed out to the employee on a 1 pay period lag.
