Overview
A leading licensed fiat and crypto wallet services provider in Southeast Asia is expanding globally and seeking an experienced Lawyer to lead efforts in obtaining financial and payment licenses across key international markets including the EU, Latin America, Africa, South Asia, and Hong Kong.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a global licensing strategy for payments, e-money, remittances, and virtual asset service provider (VASP)/crypto-related services across multiple jurisdictions.
- Prepare, review, and submit license applications; manage communications with regulators and government agencies.
- Coordinate with external legal counsel, consultants, and regulatory authorities in various regions.
- Collaborate with Compliance, Risk, and Operations teams to integrate regulatory requirements into product and operational frameworks.
- Monitor global regulatory developments, identify market entry opportunities and risks, and advise management accordingly.
- Draft and maintain internal policies, licensing documentation, and regulatory reports.
- Represent the organization in regulatory discussions, industry associations, and working groups to support favorable licensing outcomes.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or higher.
- Minimum 5 years of post-qualification legal experience, including at least 3 years in financial services, fintech, payments, or cryptocurrency sectors.
- Proven success in securing financial or payment licenses in one or more of the following regions: EU, Latin America, Africa, South Asia, or Hong Kong.
- In-depth knowledge of payment services regulations, anti-money laundering/counter-financing of terrorism (AML/CFT), e-money licensing, and crypto/virtual asset regulatory frameworks.
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills with regulators and external counsel.
- Excellent English communication and legal drafting skills; proficiency in additional languages such as Chinese is advantageous.
- Ability to manage multiple licensing projects across different time zones.

This role involves coordination across multiple international jurisdictions and requires flexibility to work across time zones.
