Overview

An established global platform is seeking an experienced attorney to join their legal team as Lead Counsel, Community Trust. This role focuses on providing legal support and counseling related to fraud and safety defenses and enforcement, community support, law enforcement operations, global crisis management, and disaster response. The position reports to the Associate General Counsel, Community Trust.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal support to the Fraud & Safety Operations team for proactive defenses and reactive interventions to maintain community safety.
  • Handle user Customer Support escalations by analyzing and advising on matters involving company policies and enforcement.
  • Assess, manage, and advise cross-functional stakeholders on global legal risks, life safety, law enforcement operations, and internal investigations.
  • Advise on and lead cross-functional projects involving teams such as Fraud & Safety, Global Crisis Management, Community Support, Communications, Community Policy, Public Policy, Privacy, and Hosting.
  • Manage team resources to align with business priorities and objectives.
  • Champion the organization's mission, ethics, and integrity.
  • Support efforts to maintain a diverse and inclusive workplace free from discrimination and harassment.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree with strong academic credentials.
  • Membership in the California Bar or eligibility to register as Registered In-House Counsel.
  • 12 to 15 years of significant experience in litigation, risk mitigation, fraud and safety, law enforcement operations, and global policy application.
  • Experience with artificial intelligence and machine learning models is a plus.
  • Outstanding analytical, oral, and written communication skills, with the ability to distill complex legal issues for business audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively under time-sensitive and high-stakes conditions.
  • Proven track record of providing entrepreneurial, pragmatic, and business-oriented legal advice balancing risk and reward.
  • Highly motivated, organized, and capable of managing projects from inception to completion in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with a collaborative and respectful approach.
  • Leadership qualities characterized by humility and empathy.
  • Passion for travel, home sharing, and appreciation for community-driven platforms.
  • Good sense of humor, aversion to drama, and a results-driven mindset.

Location

This is a remote-eligible position within the United States. Candidates must reside in a state where the employer has a registered entity. Occasional work at an office or attendance at offsite meetings may be required as agreed with management.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary range: $240,000 to $300,000 USD.
  • Eligibility for bonus, equity, benefits, and employee travel credits.
