Overview

This remote legal assistant position is based in New Mexico and supports attorneys representing financial institutions in bankruptcy, foreclosure, residential real estate, or mortgage law. The role involves providing legal and administrative assistance in judicial foreclosure proceedings and related tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys with judicial foreclosure proceedings, including processing complaint workloads according to firm procedures and client requirements
  • Draft legal documents such as pleadings, briefs, motions, and agreements
  • Electronically file pleadings within strict deadlines and manage high volumes of incoming electronically filed pleadings
  • Prepare correspondence and proof legal forms and documents for accuracy
  • Organize and track case files
  • Provide timely responses and updates to clients
  • Communicate with courts, title vendors, and other third parties
  • Monitor and handle complaint-related tasks for assigned judicial foreclosure caseload
  • Ensure timely completion of billing for all billable events and milestones
  • Perform other projects or tasks as assigned

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal
  • Judicial foreclosure experience highly preferred
  • Paralegal certificate is a plus but not required
  • Knowledge of multi-state process of service in a judicial environment preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of legal principles, research techniques, and terminology
  • In-depth knowledge of government regulations
  • Proficiency with relevant computer applications
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong planning, organizing, attention to detail, and accuracy
  • Strong research, analytical, and critical thinking skills
