Legal Consultant (Commercial Contracts)

Overview

This is a contract position, starting ASAP and running for 12 months. The role supports a fast-moving AI and emerging technology environment within the US.

The organization is seeking an experienced legal consultant who is commercially minded and comfortable working in ambiguous, rapidly evolving environments. The position requires experience advising on complex technology agreements and regulatory compliance matters.

Responsibilities

• Advise on complex technology agreements, with a particular focus on SaaS agreements and other technology-related commercial contracts, as well as emerging technology matters across US jurisdictions.
• Navigate regulatory compliance requirements and jurisdiction-specific contracting considerations across multiple US states and markets.
• Identify, assess, and proactively manage legal and regulatory risks related to AI and experimental technologies while maintaining commercial agility and deal velocity.
• Support customer and stakeholder engagement during the initial secondment period to help inform the development of a scalable managed legal services framework.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with business, commercial, and operational teams in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and deadlines.

Requirements

• Strong experience advising on complex technology and SaaS agreements, including negotiating and drafting commercial contracts with customers and/or technology providers.
• Preferred expertise in regulatory compliance frameworks relevant to AI, experimental technologies, and emerging technologies across US markets.
• Demonstrated ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-growth, and ambiguous environments.
• Strong understanding of AI technology trends and the evolving regulatory landscape.
• Excellent analytical, stakeholder management, and risk assessment skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and work independently in a fast-paced commercial environment.
