Overview
- Role: Legal Counsel (Remote)
- Location: Remote (United States)
- Compensation: USD $180 per task (each task is approximately 2 hours)
This role involves partnering with experienced legal professionals to enhance the handling of legal writing, reasoning, and structure by generative AI. Freelance legal contributors will evaluate and refine AI-generated legal content across various real-world use cases.
Responsibilities
- Develop prompt-specific rubrics to evaluate the quality of legal writing
- Create realistic legal prompts and system instructions for use cases including liability waivers, court motions, affidavits, and contract clauses
- Evaluate and rank responses from multiple large language models based on legal precision, structure, and clarity
- Provide clear, written justifications for each model comparison
- Extract relevant context from source documents while preserving original meaning and voice
- Review materials to ensure accuracy, consistency, and natural legal language
Requirements
- Excellent written English skills
- JD, LLM, or equivalent legal degree from an accredited institution (strongly preferred)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in legal or related practice
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to break down complex legal writing into clear quality dimensions
- Comfortable working with digital tools, content platforms, and structured formats such as JSON
Preferred Backgrounds
- Practicing attorneys in litigation, appellate, corporate, compliance, or regulatory practice
- Legal writers, editors, and researchers
- Professionals experienced in legal content evaluation or prompt engineering
Work Authorization
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. This is a 1099 independent contractor position. Visa sponsorship, internships, or employment are not offered.
