Overview
This role is a paid Tommy Raskin Summer 2027 Legal Intern position focused on animal protection law. The internship program was established in 2021 in memory of Tommy Raskin and continues his work to address animal suffering caused by exploitation for food.
As a legal intern, you will support high-impact projects, gain hands-on legal advocacy experience, and work directly with the organization’s attorneys to research and analyze federal, state, and local laws.
Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys on projects related to farmed animal protection law, including support for:
- Campaigns
- Litigation
- Policy work
- Research and analyze federal, state, and local laws
- Draft legal memoranda
- Review undercover footage
- Support campaign execution
- Assist with administrative and corporate governance tasks related to general nonprofit administration and legal compliance
Requirements
- Program eligibility is open to:
- Current law students, and
- Lawyers with a license to practice law in at least one U.S. state
Compensation & Benefits
- Interns will work up to 29 hours per week for eight to 12 weeks
- Interns who do not receive funding through their law schools will earn $20/hour
Location
- Remote
- Interns will meet virtually at least twice per week with their attorney supervisor
- Interns will attend legal-team meetings and other internal events

Community Building & Learning
- Weekly virtual meetings with other Raskin legal interns
- Educational sessions with teams including investigations, campaigns, policy, and organizing
- Invitation to attend a virtual event with members of the Raskin family
- After the internship ends, biannual virtual meetings with legal staff and members of the Raskin family
Additional Internship Information
In addition to the Tommy Raskin summer internship program, the organization offers paid legal internships during the fall and spring that can be completed remotely, with a minimum commitment of eight weeks.
