Overview

This role is for a U.S. Legal Domain Expert specializing in Environmental & Natural Resources Law. The position supports legal research, analysis, and evaluation activities involving U.S. federal and state environmental and natural resources laws.

The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of U.S. environmental regulations, natural resources legislation, regulatory frameworks, and legal research methodologies, with the ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide accurate, well-supported legal responses.

Responsibilities

Conduct detailed legal research on U.S. Environmental & Natural Resources Law.
Analyze federal and state environmental statutes, regulations, case law, and administrative decisions.
Research and interpret laws related to environmental protection, natural resources, land use, conservation, and regulatory compliance.
Evaluate legal questions and provide clear, accurate, and well-reasoned responses.
Identify and reference relevant statutes, regulations, judicial decisions, agency guidance, and other authoritative legal sources.
Review legal scenarios and assess applicable environmental and natural resources laws.
Analyze regulatory requirements issued by relevant U.S. federal and state agencies.
Assist with legal content evaluation, annotation, classification, and quality assessment.
Identify jurisdiction-specific differences and explain how applicable laws may vary across U.S. states.
Maintain a high level of accuracy, consistency, and legal reasoning across assigned tasks.

Requirements

Licensed Attorney in the United States with relevant experience in Environmental & Natural Resources Law.
Alternatively, candidates may be JD/LL.M. graduates, senior legal researchers, or experienced paralegals with substantial expertise in the relevant domain, where applicable.
Minimum 3+ years of relevant professional experience preferred.
Strong understanding of U.S. federal environmental laws and regulatory frameworks.
Experience conducting authoritative legal research using primary legal sources.
Strong analytical, legal reasoning, and written communication skills.
Ability to distinguish between federal, state, and local legal requirements.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently.
Familiarity with legal research databases and online legal resources.

Jurisdiction Requirement

Candidates must have professional experience with U.S. jurisdictions and be able to demonstrate expertise in the environmental and natural resources laws applicable to the jurisdiction(s) in which they are licensed or have substantial professional experience.

Experience across multiple U.S. states and/or federal environmental law will be preferred.
