Overview

A remote, one-year limited term paralegal position is available to support the Florida Staff Counsel team. The role requires at least three years of Florida Civil Litigation experience, including drafting discovery responses and expert retention.

Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys in answering interrogatories by interviewing clients, drafting responses, and preparing final documents.
  • Obtain, review, and summarize medical records under attorney direction; coordinate expert reviews and medical examinations as needed.
  • Assist in preparing motions and conduct legal research related to those motions.
  • Support attorneys in interviewing witnesses before and during trials.
  • Prepare documents and evidence for trial.
  • Perform other legal support duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods during a full work shift.
  • Occasionally reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
  • Occasionally move, lift, carry, and place objects weighing up to 10 pounds without assistance.
  • Ability to listen and interpret auditory information at normal speaking levels.
  • Visual ability to verify, read, and locate materials and resources.
  • Physical dexterity to operate a computer and office equipment repetitively for extended periods.

Education Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Either a 2-year Associate Degree or 3 years of paralegal work experience.
  • Paralegal certificate, degree in paralegal studies, or completion of at least one year of law school.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree and paralegal certificate from an American Bar Association (ABA) approved program.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of one year of experience working in a civil litigation law firm preferred.
