Overview

An established international labor and employment law firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal with California experience to join their remote team. This full-time, virtual role supports attorneys in delivering high-quality legal services, primarily in labor and employment litigation.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain and manage client documents, including electronic data, and identify potentially relevant materials.
  • Conduct litigation, criminal, and civil background checks; obtain authenticated records as needed.
  • Draft various legal documents for attorney review, including removal documents, certificates of interested parties, answers, initial disclosures, motions, orders, scheduling orders, protective orders, deposition notices, affidavits, declarations, discovery requests and responses, settlement agreements, and dismissal documents.
  • Assist with preparation of motions for summary judgment, including checking deposition citations, assembling exhibits, and creating appendices.
  • Identify and prepare all documents for production, including Bates labeling and redacting privileged or confidential information.
  • Assist in trial preparation by managing exhibits, evidentiary matters, witness lists, files, subpoenas, coordinating and attending witness preparation meetings, and providing assistance at trial.
  • Conduct online legal research and efficiently utilize electronic resources.
  • Manage multiple assignments and deadlines while maintaining professionalism and seeking assistance when necessary.
  • Record all billable and non-billable time according to firm policies.
  • Assist colleagues as needed.
  • Review vendor invoices for accuracy and submit them timely for processing.

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with document review software, eDiscovery technology, and document management systems.
  • Experience with Relativity and/or Everlaw is strongly preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum of five years of litigation paralegal experience.
  • Labor and employment litigation experience required.
  • Extensive knowledge of litigation and trial procedures, including federal, California state, and appellate court rules and procedures.
  • Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience.

Requirements

Candidates must meet at least one of the following:

  • Certificate of completion of a paralegal program approved by the American Bar Association.
  • Certificate of completion of a paralegal program or degree from a post-secondary institution accredited by a national or regional accrediting organization or approved by the Bureau for Private Post-Secondary and Vocational Education, requiring at least 24 semester units in law-related courses.
  • Baccalaureate or advanced degree in any subject, with at least one year of law-related experience under the supervision of an attorney who has been an active member of the State Bar of California for at least the preceding three years or who has practiced in the federal courts of California for at least the preceding three years, accompanied by a written declaration from the supervising attorney stating the candidate is qualified to perform paralegal tasks.

  • Hourly rate range: $36.05 - $55.30, determined by factors including location, experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity.
