Overview
This role involves providing litigation support to Staff Legal offices by managing moderately complex legal matters. The Paralegal II will work under the supervision of a Paralegal Manager and collaborate with attorneys to support discovery, pleading preparation, legal research, and client communication. The position requires adaptability to different jurisdictions and procedural rules.
Note: Candidates residing in California, Arkansas, Kentucky, and North Carolina will not be considered due to business requirements.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough legal research using advanced techniques to support attorneys in litigation matters.
- Manage case files, deadlines, and electronically stored information using case management and e-discovery tools.
- Leverage technology to optimize workflow, streamline processes, and generate data-driven insights.
- Analyze case information to assist in developing legal strategies and formulating recommendations.
- Manage moderately complex legal projects, including planning, task organization, resource allocation, and risk management.
- Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, attorneys, and team members, providing mentorship and clear communication.
- Apply knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and court rulings to mitigate risks and ensure compliance.
- Draft complex legal documents such as motions and pleadings.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication and timely updates.
- Communicate findings and recommendations assertively to influence outcomes and maximize organizational performance.
Requirements
- Paralegal certificate or a minimum of 4 years of non-clerical litigation experience under attorney supervision.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Proficiency in conducting advanced legal research and independently drafting legal documents.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills for interaction with attorneys, clients, policyholders, and judges.
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and prioritize work effectively.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and corporate/legal databases.
