Overview
This role is a 100% REMOTE Paralegal position supporting 9 Tort Attorneys in the organization’s New Jersey Staff Legal offices.
The position involves supporting insurance defense matters in a high-volume, paperless environment. Paralegal work may include drafting and assisting with discovery and motion practice, preparing correspondence and reports, and organizing documents for trial.
Responsibilities
- Use appropriate software to prepare correspondence, reports, briefs, motions, pleadings, discovery documents, and other materials in a timely manner
- Create and edit court documents consistent with New Jersey court requirements
- Support attorneys on cases and serve as a liaison with clients, claims, local courts, and counsel
- Maintain a minimal billing requirement of 1100 hours per year
- Draft pleadings, motions, responses to discovery requests, and support targeted discovery activities
- Support PIP staff with typing and document filing as needed
- Follow up with clients to obtain information needed to respond to discovery, and signatures on verifications for discovery
- Communicate with claim partners to obtain information needed to respond to discovery
- Collaborate with attorneys, clients, and opposing counsel via phone and email
- Draft background facts and applicable law in support of discovery motions and prepare/organize exhibits and relevant documents for motions
- Produce large volumes of documents to opposing counsel and experts via various links, CDs, and zip drives
- Compile and organize exhibits and relevant documents for trial
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a paralegal within a paperless insurance defense law office or corporate department
- Paralegal Certification is beneficial but not required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated success organizing large volumes of documents and information during discovery, motion preparation, and trial preparation
- Experience in a high-volume litigation environment, including document production, discovery preparation, Outlook calendar maintenance, and data maintenance for clients
- Strong working knowledge of New Jersey court systems
- Strong multi-tasking, organizational, and time management skills
- Proficiency with case management software
- Strong familiarity with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint)
- Ability to meet productivity targets in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Excellent organizational skills, particularly prioritizing work across multiple attorneys
- Ability to manipulate electronic documents in TIF, PDF, and JPG formats
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of trial preparation experience
Compensation & Benefits
- Annualized base pay range: $63,200 - $94,800
Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including performance, proficiency, and demonstration of competencies required for the role. Base pay is one component of the total compensation package, which may also include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition.

For 100% remote positions, the role requires:
- High speed broadband cable internet service with minimum upload/download speeds of 3Mbps/30Mbps
- The internet provider-supplied device must be hardwired to the employer-issued router and/or computer
