Overview

A full-service litigation and business law firm with multiple U.S. locations is seeking a Commercial Litigation Paralegal. This role supports attorneys in commercial litigation matters through fact investigation, legal research, document preparation, trial support, and client service. The position may be remote or based in any of the firm's offices.

Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys with fact investigation, witness interviews, drafting pleadings and correspondence, and legal research.
  • Prepare and produce legal documents, medical records, and historical chronologies.
  • Manage databases and conduct document analysis using document review software.
  • Handle docketing, case management, and calendaring tasks.
  • Prepare materials for depositions, hearings, trials, and attend proceedings as needed.
  • Draft pleadings and discovery documents.
  • Coordinate filing and service of pleadings and documents.
  • Act as liaison between clients, colleagues, and experts to ensure timely communication and material production.
  • Develop proficiency in e-discovery databases, AI software tools, internet/electronic research, and electronic file maintenance.
  • Organize and manage case files independently.
  • Stay informed on developments in commercial litigation and paralegal industry best practices.
  • Participate in internal continuing legal education (CLE) sessions.
  • Anticipate attorney needs and provide proactive support.
  • Mentor junior paralegals or paralegal assistants as needed.
  • Meet an annual billable hour target of 1500.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant commercial litigation paralegal experience.
  • Experience with Relativity or similar document review software.
  • Trial preparation and attendance experience.
  • California litigation experience is required.
  • Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree or paralegal certificate preferred.
  • Significant substantive legal experience may be considered in lieu of formal education at management discretion.

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation is commensurate with skills, experience, and location. Expected salary ranges by location are:

  • California: $86,000 - $139,000
  • Colorado: $75,000 - $119,000
  • Illinois: $64,000 - $125,000
  • Maryland: $73,000 - $107,000
  • Massachusetts: $85,000 - $130,000
  • Minnesota: $75,000 - $111,000
  • Jersey City, NJ: $78,000 - $114,000
  • New York: $66,000 - $125,000
  • Washington: $88,000 - $134,000
  • Washington, DC: $94,000 - $138,000

Bonus opportunities are discretionary and based on individual and firm performance.
