Overview
This role is responsible for day-to-day corporate legal support, owning tasks across investor due diligence and audit requests, governance and documentation, corporate filings, and coordinating relationships with outside counsel and legal vendors. The position reports to the Deputy General Counsel, Corporate.
Responsibilities
- Run due diligence and audit requests from intake to close, gathering responses from internal teams and ensuring accuracy and on-time delivery.
- Support corporate governance by preparing and maintaining documentation, supporting corporate filings, and keeping entity records and renewals current.
- Manage relationships with outside counsel and legal vendors, including oversight of invoices and budgets and coordination of legal technology tools used by the department.
- Partner with Finance, IT, Tax, Treasury, and the People Team to streamline how legal work moves through the organization.
- Assist attorneys with commercial transactions and compliance matters, applying sound judgment when work arrives with limited direction.
- Grow into adjacent responsibilities as the function scales, including Board coordination, legal research, and drafting and reviewing contracts.
Requirements (Minimum Qualifications)
- 5+ years of corporate and transactional experience, ideally including time in a large corporate legal department or law firm.
- Strong project management and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to multi-task in a demanding, deadline-driven environment.
- Experience with corporate transactions, due diligence, and compliance.
- Experience managing budgets and vendor relationships, including law firm billing.
- Exemplary communication, research, and organizational skills.
- Comfort working alongside AI tools, with curiosity about how technology can reduce legal operations busywork.
- Able to work fully remote, with periodic business travel and attendance at company gatherings.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in financial services.
- Experience negotiating commercial contracts.
- Experience managing a corporate IP portfolio.
- Residence in the Greater Richmond, Virginia area.
Compensation & Benefits
- Annual full-time starting base salary range: $95,000 – $124,000
- Additional compensation eligibility: eligible for participation in annual incentive and equity programs.
