Overview
A financial cooperative serving members nationwide is seeking a detail-oriented Paralegal to support the General Counsel with legal research, contract review, litigation management, and probate matters. This remote position requires strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and clear communication in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct legal research and analysis on various legal and regulatory issues.
- Assist with legal and compliance help desk inquiries.
- Prepare legal correspondence including discovery, garnishments, subpoenas, and deposition notices.
- Draft, review, and revise contracts using Microsoft Word tools.
- Manage and maintain contract databases and legal files.
- Support the General Counsel in providing legal counsel, guidance, and strategy on legal and regulatory matters.
- Oversee quality and efficiency of outsourced legal services.
- Assist in ensuring policies, procedures, and forms comply with applicable laws and regulations.
- Provide legal guidance on operational matters such as employment law, power of attorney, and deceased member accounts.
- Stay informed on legal and regulatory developments affecting the financial services industry.
- Manage governance matters and maintain an inventory of legal issues for updates to the Board of Directors and management.
- Adhere to organizational policies including security compliance and risk management.
- Participate in departmental and organizational projects as assigned.
- Maintain confidentiality of all member and organizational information.
- Comply with all relevant federal regulations, including Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) requirements.
Requirements
- Remote work capability.
- Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years of legal-related experience in a financial institution, government agency, or law firm.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe.
- Paralegal Certificate preferred.
