Position: Paralegal / Legal Assistant (PII Compliance)

This role involves supporting a team by managing Personally Identifiable Information (PII) compliance through detailed analysis and handling of sensitive documentation. The position focuses on ensuring adherence to data privacy regulations, protecting confidential corporate and financial information, and mitigating risks related to re-identification.

Responsibilities

  • Review, redact, and generalize sensitive documents to maintain PII compliance while balancing data utility and privacy requirements.
  • Support mergers and acquisitions (M&A) activities by preparing and managing Confidential Information Memorandums (CIMs), Share Purchase Agreements (SPAs), and other critical deal documents.
  • Implement and uphold compliance protocols and reconciliation processes for complex data sets.
  • Provide guidance on structural identifiability issues related to confidential workflows, triage protocols, and proprietary client procedures.
  • Collaborate with legal, compliance, and finance teams to address PII-related concerns and offer subject matter expertise.
  • Assist in drafting and updating compliance policies and training materials to align with best practices.
  • Maintain detailed records of document handling and compliance activities for auditing and review purposes.

Required Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of practical experience with PII compliance in legal or corporate settings.
  • Proven ability to identify subtle PII elements and apply advanced redaction and generalization methods.
  • Strong understanding of M&A processes, including familiarity with CIMs and SPAs.
  • Skilled in drafting, reviewing, and managing sensitive financial and corporate documentation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Proactive and balanced approach to compliance, considering regulatory, operational, and business factors.
  • High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential information and proprietary workflows.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in finance, corporate law, or highly regulated industries.
  • Knowledge of global data privacy regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, and their application in M&A or corporate contexts.
  • Advanced training or certification in compliance, privacy, or legal research.
