Overview

A full-service litigation and business law firm with multiple U.S. locations is seeking a Paralegal specializing in Real Estate to join their team in Austin, Houston, or Dallas, TX. This role involves supporting attorneys with real estate transactions and related legal documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Draft due diligence checklists and manage due diligence processes with third parties
  • Manage virtual data rooms
  • Review and comment on title and survey documents; coordinate with title companies and surveyors
  • Draft purchase and sale agreements, leases, loan agreements, promissory notes, security agreements, mortgages/deeds of trust, and ancillary loan documents
  • Draft or review organizational documents such as articles of organization, operating agreements, and qualification documents
  • Draft or review shareholder and board consents, and officer’s certificates
  • Conduct and review UCC, judgment, and lien searches at federal, state, and county levels
  • Organize, distribute, and compile signature pages for closings
  • Interface directly with clients and business parties to coordinate due diligence, closings, and funding
  • Manage preparation and distribution of closing binders and post-closing deliverables
  • Assist attorneys with various other tasks and assignments

Essential Functions

  • Supervise and provide training/mentoring to Paralegal Assistants
  • Manage client relationships
  • Exercise independent judgment in managing client team activities and use of practice support tools and technology
  • Participate in in-house continuing legal education (CLE)
  • Utilize and implement legal AI technologies
  • Meet a billable hour requirement of 1500 hours per year

Minimum Requirements

  • At least 5 years of relevant paralegal experience
  • Paralegal certification from an ABA-approved program or equivalent education and training as defined below:
    • Paralegal Certificate from ABA-approved program or from an accredited program requiring at least 60 semester hours plus 3+ years of comparable in-house training
    • OR Associate’s degree from ABA-approved program plus 2+ years of comparable training
    • OR Bachelor’s or advanced degree in any field plus 1+ year of comparable training
    • OR significant substantive legal experience may be considered in lieu of formal education at discretion of leadership
