Overview
A legal services team is seeking a Paralegal Specialist to support casualty litigation operations. This role involves working closely with attorneys on casualty and general liability cases, managing the litigation lifecycle from complaint responses to trial preparation. The position offers hands-on training and mentorship in a fast-paced legal environment.
Responsibilities
- Identify and summarize relevant legal issues, updating attorneys as needed
- Communicate case status with claim business partners and plaintiff attorneys
- Review new and proposed legislation for applicability
- Review new file assignments and draft initial pleadings such as answers and motions
- Draft discovery documents and responses to discovery demands
- Assist clients with discovery-related questions
- Prepare briefs to support clients in small claims court
- Assist attorneys in preparing materials for trial, arbitration, or mediation
Requirements
- Must meet minimum paralegal qualifications as defined by applicable state law
- Experience as a paralegal focusing on casualty, general liability, bodily injury, or civil litigation preferred
- Familiarity with Colorado laws and regulatory requirements preferred
- Experience managing high-volume caseloads in a fast-paced legal environment preferred
- Knowledge of legal procedures including pleadings, discovery, motions, and court filings
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases and prioritize tasks
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for drafting legal documents and correspondence
Supervisory Responsibilities
- This position does not include supervisory duties
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly pay range: $28.03 to $42.99, based on experience and qualifications
