Overview

This role is based in Dallas, Texas, and involves providing paralegal support within a legal team. The position offers an opportunity to advance a legal career by assisting attorneys with various case preparations and legal documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys in preparing responses to discovery, including client meetings when necessary.
  • Prepare cases for trial by sending discovery requests, monitoring compliance, and preparing motions as needed.
  • Support case investigations by obtaining medical, insurance, employment, and other records through requests or subpoenas.
  • Assist in drafting motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
  • Communicate with clients, claims adjusters, litigation specialists, attorneys' offices, medical providers, police departments, courts, and agents to request additional information or documentation.
  • Set up legal file jackets and maintain summaries of all records received by case for attorneys and claims personnel.
  • Perform legal research as requested by attorneys.

Requirements

  • Paralegal certificate or a minimum of 6 months experience in drafting discovery documents and responses, summarizing claims files and medical records, and interviewing clients.
  • Typing speed of at least 28 words per minute with 95% accuracy.
  • Familiarity with general office equipment such as calculators, fax machines, and copy machines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Prior PC experience, including proficiency with word processing software (Word and Excel preferred).
  • Knowledge of law office management, time billing, and legal research software is preferred.
  • Ability to work primarily in the office with occasional work-from-home opportunities.
