Overview
This role involves providing litigation support to legal teams, focusing on matters of moderate complexity. The Paralegal II will work under the supervision of a Paralegal Manager and collaborate closely with attorneys to support litigation activities including client communication, discovery, pleading preparation, and legal research.
Note: Paralegals may need to adjust working hours to align with their respective legal office teams.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough legal research using advanced techniques to support attorneys in building strong legal arguments.
- Manage case files, deadlines, and large volumes of data efficiently.
- Utilize case management and e-discovery tools to handle legal documents and electronically stored information during litigation.
- Leverage new and existing technologies to optimize workflow, streamline processes, and generate data-driven insights.
- Analyze case information to assist in developing legal strategies, identifying precedents, and applying legal principles.
- Manage moderately complex legal projects by planning, organizing tasks, allocating resources, and monitoring progress.
- Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and attorneys, fostering teamwork and mentoring colleagues.
- Apply knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and court rulings to mitigate risks and ensure compliance.
- Draft complex legal materials and manage legal documents effectively.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships through clear communication and timely updates.
- Communicate findings and recommendations assertively to influence outcomes and maximize organizational performance.
Requirements
- Paralegal certificate or a minimum of 4 years of non-clerical litigation experience under attorney supervision.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Ability to perform advanced legal research and independently draft legal documents including motions.
- Strong analytical skills to assist with complex matter analysis.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills for effective interaction with attorneys, clients, policyholders, and judges.
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and prioritize work effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and corporate/legal databases.
