Overview
A full-service litigation and business law firm with multiple U.S. locations is seeking a Patent Agent specializing in Electrical or Computer fields. The role is open to candidates with three or more years of experience (preferably 6+), and may be based at any office or virtually.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and prosecute patent applications, including drafting detailed written descriptions and figures.
- Respond to Office actions and communicate with Patent Examiners.
- Conduct and analyze comprehensive patent searches to identify prior art and assess patentability.
- Stay current on developments in U.S. patent law and relevant technologies.
- Meet a billable hour requirement of 1500 - 1700 hours per year.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of three years (preferably 6+) experience preparing and prosecuting patent applications in a law firm environment.
- Registered Patent Agent before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
- Strong analytical and research skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; professional and courteous interaction with clients and colleagues.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently with strong organizational and time management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Artificial Intelligence or Quantum Computing.
Compensation and Benefits
- Base annual salary range: $100,000–$170,000, commensurate with skill and experience.
- Bonus opportunities dependent on individual and firm performance (non-guaranteed).
