Overview
A California-based law firm specializing in personal injury and employment litigation is seeking a full-time experienced Personal Injury Litigation Attorney. This fully remote position primarily involves handling California cases, with occasional out-of-state matters requiring local counsel or pro hac vice admission.
Responsibilities
- Manage all phases of plaintiff-side personal injury litigation from case inception through trial
- Conduct comprehensive legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and briefs
- Oversee discovery processes, including drafting and responding to discovery requests
- Prepare and defend motions such as summary judgment and pre-trial motions
- Take and defend expert depositions
- Prepare for trial, including witness preparation and strategy development
- Represent clients in mediations, settlement conferences, and trials
- Negotiate settlements effectively while advocating for clients' best interests
- Maintain ongoing communication with clients to ensure informed decision-making throughout litigation
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Active California law license required; additional licenses are a plus
- Minimum of 5 years of plaintiff-side personal injury litigation experience at a law firm
- Trial experience required
- Uniform Bar Examination (UBE) certification preferred
- Proven track record of strong litigation skills and successful case outcomes
- Prior experience working in a law firm environment preferred
- Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
- Ability to manage a heavy caseload independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues
