Overview
This role supports plaintiff-side pre-litigation employment matters for employees across Minnesota and Illinois. The work centers on cases involving being fired, discriminated against, harassed, retaliated against, or shorted on pay.
The employer represents clients on contingency, with compensation tied to recoveries.
The organization is seeking an early-career attorney to work directly with a lead pre-litigation attorney. Responsibilities include completing delegated tasks across an active docket, supporting negotiation efforts, and training/learning the firm’s demand-building and pre-litigation case resolution approach.
Responsibilities
- Complete delegated tasks end-to-end, from assignment to final submission.
- Return delegated work by the committed date, aiming to reduce turnaround time and rework.
- Support negotiation activities, including:
- valuation memos
- response letters
- negotiation plans
- calls and negotiations as skill grows
- Provide timely client communication for delegated matters, including:
- updates within one business day
- early notification of negative developments by phone
- Build toward an increasing share of the work over the first year, including more matters, negotiations, and judgment calls.
- Manage cases on the organization’s timeline and theory, including responding to defense counsel tactics intended to slow the file.
- Raise issues the same day when problems arise, with evidence and a proposed path forward.
- Commit to next steps once the team decides, including when the candidate advocated for the alternative.
Requirements
- Admission to practice in Minnesota or Illinois, or in another U.S. jurisdiction with admission in Minnesota or Illinois within 12 months of your start date.
- If you sat for the July 2026 bar exam, apply now; your start date follows your swearing-in.
- Evidence of persuasive communication and the ability to move people off a position (examples may include law school clinics, moot court, mediation work, sales, recruiting, or prior career experience).
- Evidence of the ability to carry volume and meet deadlines without being chased.
- Willingness to receive frequent, direct coaching and incorporate feedback quickly.
Preferred Qualifications
- Plaintiff-side employment interest or experience.
- Negotiation experience in any setting.
Compensation & Benefits
- $73,000 to $85,000 salary (full-time), depending on experience.

Hiring Timeline
