Overview
A legal services organization is seeking a Real Estate Finance Counsel to join their Financial Services and Real Estate team. This role involves providing expert legal advice and support in commercial real estate and finance, focusing on compliance and risk mitigation. The position offers the opportunity to work with clients on commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS), lease financing, and real estate joint ventures.
Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial real estate finance documents, loan agreements, mortgage-backed securities contracts, and lease financing agreements.
- Provide legal guidance on CMBS transactions, FHA and HUD regulatory compliance, and property-level due diligence.
- Collaborate with internal legal, finance, and risk teams, as well as external counsel and financial institutions, on real estate finance and joint venture transactions.
- Manage real estate finance, regulatory, and transactional legal issues for clients in commercial property, investment, and development sectors.
- Monitor industry trends, FHA/HUD regulations, and market developments to provide proactive legal counsel.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial real estate finance or structured real estate transactions.
- Strong knowledge of CMBS, mortgage-backed securities, FHA/HUD regulations, loan-to-value (LTV) analysis, and lease financing structures.
- Proven experience advising clients on commercial real estate finance transactions, joint ventures, and compliance matters.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, technology proficiency, and problem-solving skills.
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree and licensed to practice law in an applicable jurisdiction.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with property-level due diligence, international or cross-border real estate transactions, and structured finance matters.
- Familiarity with real estate investment trusts (REITs) or capital markets transactions.
Compensation and Benefits
- Estimated total compensation for full-time attorney roles ranges from $104,500 to $325,000 per year.
- Compensation is determined based on factors including experience, skills, certifications, location, and business needs.
