Overview
A law firm specializing in complex civil litigation is seeking a Paralegal to join its General Liability practice group. This is a remote position requiring availability during Pacific Time Zone business hours (9:00 am to 5:00 pm) to support California offices. Experience with California litigation is preferred but not mandatory.
Responsibilities
- Manage a high-volume General Liability docket for a Senior Managing Partner.
- Act as the primary liaison among attorneys, legal administrative assistants, and other paralegals to ensure efficient case management.
- Handle multiple complex litigation matters simultaneously.
- Monitor case filings and provide detailed assessments to attorneys.
- Draft initial versions of pre-trial motions, dispositive motions, and other pleadings.
- Review and evaluate discovery documents such as medical records, sales documents, and employment records.
- Prepare case assessments and evaluations for review by associates and partners.
- Record and submit billable time in accordance with firm policies.
- Perform administrative and procedural tasks related to case management.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in General Liability Defense litigation.
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel), Westlaw, PACER, and File & Serve Xpress.
- Experience with California litigation strongly preferred.
- Ability to manage a large caseload with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Dependable with consistent attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions.
- Customer service orientation with prompt responsiveness to attorney and client requests.
