Overview

A respected and growing California-based law firm is seeking an experienced Workers’ Compensation Defense Attorney to join its expanding practice. This predominantly remote role offers the opportunity to manage sophisticated matters and contribute to the growth of a collaborative and well-supported team.

Responsibilities

  • Manage workers’ compensation defense cases from inception through final resolution
  • Handle discovery, depositions, hearings, and court appearances
  • Work closely with insurance carriers, employers, and third-party administrators
  • Proactively manage cases with strategic and efficient approaches
  • Maintain strong communication and professional relationships with clients and colleagues

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of workers’ compensation defense experience
  • Exclusive or primary focus on workers’ compensation defense matters
  • Experience managing cases independently through resolution
  • Strong skills in legal research, writing, negotiation, and advocacy
  • Active membership in the State Bar of California in good standing
  • Bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctor from accredited institutions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience handling complex or high-volume workers’ compensation defense caseloads
  • Ability to manage in-person appearances while working remotely
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing deadlines
  • Client service-oriented mindset with a collaborative approach

Role Details

  • Practice Area: Workers’ Compensation Defense
  • Experience Level: Associate Attorney
  • Billable Hours Requirement: 195 hours per month
  • Work Model: Approximately 90% remote with some in-person attendance required for hearings, depositions, appearances, and mandatory meetings
  • Compensation: Competitive and commensurate with experience, including quarterly bonus opportunities

Salary Ranges by Experience Level

  • 1 to 3 years: $100,000
  • 3 to 5 years: $150,000
  • 5 to 7 years: $200,000
  • 7 to 10 years: $210,000
  • 10+ years: $220,000
