Overview

A leading natural gas producer in the United States is seeking a Senior Attorney/Counsel to provide legal support on a variety of environmental and regulatory matters. This role involves working closely with senior legal team members to support permitting, development, and operational activities, with a focus on environmental enforcement and permitting strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in permitting, development, and operational discussions, providing legal guidance on environmental enforcement and permitting.
  • Assist with permit filings and modifications.
  • Respond to agency inquiries, requests for information, inspections, notices of violations, and enforcement actions.
  • Support responses to incidents and remediation efforts.
  • Manage communications and negotiations with environmental agencies regarding consent orders and other findings.
  • Collaborate with outside counsel and internal teams.
  • Provide legal advice to various teams to identify issues and evaluate risk, liability, and exposure.
  • Stay current on relevant oil and gas law and related legal issues.
  • Undertake special projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of legal experience.
  • Experience in environmental law and regulatory law.
  • Bachelor's degree and Juris Doctorate.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong analytical and issue-spotting abilities.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions beneficial to the organization.
  • Demonstrated team orientation and willingness to broaden knowledge through diverse tasks.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • High initiative and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience utilizing technology to monitor and manage workload.
  • Background in energy, infrastructure, or industrial sectors.
  • Residency in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, or Ohio preferred.

Work Location

Remote work is considered except for candidates residing in California, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, and Tennessee unless willing to relocate.
